In 1988, Dr. Marilyn Winkleby, now a Professor of Medicine at the Stanford School of Medicine, founded SMYSP. In 2005, she founded Access to Achievement Education Foundation to reach more low-income students interested in health and scientific careers.
Dr. Winkleby also directs an internationally recognized scientific group known for its work on social disparities in health.
Dr. Winkleby is the Faculty Director of the Office of Community Health at the Stanford School of Medicine; and Co-director of the “Community Engagement” component and Director of the “K-12 Pipeline Program” of the Stanford Center for Clinical and Translational Education and Research (CTSA).
